Pickup and Transportation

Pickup: Your cake will be packaged as securely as possible, with a piece of masking tape holding the board to the box. Please keep the box level at all times, carrying it with two hands in front of you. Avoid leaning the box against your body to prevent shifting or tipping.

Transportation: Maintaining a level position is crucial during transport. Place the cake on the floor of your car (passenger side is ideal) or in the trunk. Do not place it on a car seat, as they are often angled. Turn on the AC, directing airflow towards the floor, to keep the cake cool.

Drive carefully, avoiding sharp turns and sudden stops.

Crucially, never leave the cake in a parked car, even briefly, as heat and sunlight will cause it to melt, shift, crack, tip, or settle, even with the AC on. Plan your errands for after cake pickup and proceed directly home to refrigerate the cake.

Storage and Serving Storage

Refrigerate all cakes and cupcakes until serving.

Serving: For optimal flavor and texture, remove the cake from the refrigerator 30 minutes to one hour before serving to allow the frosting to soften.

Wedding Cakes: For indoor wedding receptions, displaying the cake for 1-2 hours before cutting is acceptable. Longer display times can lead to settling, cracking, or tipping. We recommend keeping the cake refrigerated until the reception begins.

Outdoor Events: In warm weather, especially during summer, bring the cake outdoors only 15 minutes before serving to minimize melting. Some condensation ("sweating") is normal due to temperature changes.

Freezing and Thawing

Freezing: Cakes can be frozen for up to six months or longer. Freezing is useful for making cakes ahead of time, storing leftovers, or preserving a portion for a later date (like an anniversary). Place the cake on a level surface in the freezer for 30 minutes to one hour to firm up the frosting and decorations. Remove the cake and wrap it tightly in two layers of plastic wrap, ensuring all surfaces are covered. Return the wrapped cake to the freezer.

Thawing
: Remove the frozen cake from the freezer and unwrap it. Place the cake in the refrigerator to thaw.
Most cakes require overnight thawing (e.g., place in the fridge on Friday night for a Saturday event). Larger tiered cakes may need up to 24 hours. Smaller cakes and cupcakes will thaw more quickly.
